Our Approach

Our Mission

Impact4Nature was created to make it easier for potential conservation heroes like yourself to make an impact. We select the nature areas with the highest biodiversity values, and yet the most threatened in their existence. Critical ecosystems that provide safe havens to some of the most unique species on our planet.

We believe there are many people who would like to contribute to nature conservation, but are not sure how. It can seem daunting to get involved in conservation. Where do you start? How do you know you’re making a positive impact, and not a negative one? What are the nature areas that need your contribution the most?

Together with you, our new conservation hero,
we can make an impact to protect nature

Nature really needs our help. In recent years, around 10 million hectares of forests have been cut worldwide. Annually. That’s the equivalent of 27 football fields every minute. If you try to imagine the scale, it’s truly mind-blowing. And 60% of the deforestation takes place in South America.

So, is there any hope left? Fortunately, YES there is! And we will prove it to you.

Impact4Nature finds the most inspiring stories of nature conservation – of men and women doing their very best to protect the precious nature that is still left. We collaborate with the people in the field, both local and international experts. We learn. We determine the most threatened natural areas, with the highest potential for conservation, and discuss the most effective conservation activities. And together with you, our new conservation hero, we can make an impact to protect nature. Step by step, we want to start this journey together.

We focus on Ecuador, the country with the highest species diversity per hectare. There are many great conservation initiatives, but they are not always easy to find. In Ecuador, most biodiversity is not located within nature reserves. It’s outside, without formal protection, vulnerable. Many of these natural areas have private ownership. That can be a blessing or a curse, depending on the owner. For conservationists, the challenge is to make it a blessing. By buying the land, while collaborating with the local community, nature can be preserved.  Sometimes buying more land is not necessary, but rather strengthening the local community to sustainably manage their land.

Impact4Nature explores all the options and picks the ones where a real difference can be made

Our Values

Holistic

Considering the landscape as a whole, including all plants, animals, and human inhabitants.

Thorough analysis of the most threatened nature areas and potential conservation activities, with the threats as well as opportunities.

Working together with all key actors: the local communities, but also other organisations protecting nature in the area.

Personal

Being a small organization allows us to remain flexibility and build a personal relationship with our most dedicated supporters and conservation heroes.

We incorporate your feedback, in order to focus our activities on the most important matters to our supporters.

We do it together. We keep you informed of all our work, to the extent that you feel you’re in the field with us. In return, we hope that you continue to support us (or start right now!).

Efficient

Focusing on activities with highest impact for nature. We cannot do everything, we have to choose. And choose wisely.

Taking no-regret measurements, without negative side-effects, with clear results for nature.

Collaborating with local people during all steps of the process, who best know the land and have long-term interests in its preservation.
